The end is near

Im really gutted to have to tell you all that the end for the ripped is now in sight. the situation we have faced since the disaster period has got even worse and we can now longer even aford to pay the business rates let alone all the other bills and depts that have amounted since the disaster period. I have now had to hand in the final 3 month notice of closure. this is not like the other times where we have managed to scrape thru month by month, its real this time. the final closing date will be the 1st of october 2009.

We will be hosting a big goodbye bash/all-nighter towards the end but for now you have just under 3 month to use the park as much as you can, for your own benifit (not ours this time) there is no pressure to use the park now as it is defo shutting down but why not make the most of it while you still can!!

News update and new session prices

the ripped is very much on its way out unless more of you start skating it asap. im not sure even after all this time that people realise if you dont use it you will lose it. well we are prity much at that point again. nothing has changed in terms of custom, infact it is getting even worse. how do people expect us to stay open when the last couple of weeks we have only taken £25 from tuesday to friday. this means only 5 people turned up for a mid week shred. we know its getting hot again and there is now plenty of choices of outdoor parks to skate for free in west yorkshire but unless you still support your indoor parks, you will have no where to skate thru winter.

to try help thru the broke time we have just dropped membership and entry prices.

for everyone its now just

£3.50 for an hour

£5 for half a day (up to 4 hours)

&

£10 for a full day (anything over 4 hours or till we shut)

we hope this might help a few more of you to be able to get down for a skate and support thru these last legs of the park!

Petition for council funding for the ripped

thanks to owen nagy the council have agreed to consider funding the ripped if we can get enough people to sign a petition.

Relentless Ride with us tour 09

the ride with us tour is back again but this time ran by relentless, the tour starts at the ripped skatepark on saturday 4th july at 6pm, £2 entry. with music from the gentlemans pistols and various skate jams and comps. the tour is open to anyone with transport money for food and a sleeping bag, so why not join in? if not, at least make it to the ripped starter day.

also on this day we are having an all day graffiti jam hosted by local crew UKS, live graffiti, dj's, beatboxers, mcs, bbq, stalls and loads of other random stuff. 12 till 6pm £5 entry

we can now stay open till july / price cut info

because of the success of the recent all nighter we have been able to push the shut down date back to the end of july. this is great news but does not mean we are safe. it is only the events that are pulling us thru recently and we realy need more support from local skaters.

we know times are hard at the min but to help we have just dropped our session prices in the hope some of you will start skating here a bit more frequent.we have now dropped the members price and as from today, for everyone it will cost

£3.50 for an hour

£5 for a 4 hour session (half day)

£10 for a full day (or anything over 4 hours)

note to members, dont feel hard done by because of the price drop, i will still be knocking you money of shop items like decks and wheels and stuff and from now on once a month we will randomly select one meber for a free full day session and a few goodies from the shop. winners will be anounced on here and will have 2 week to claim the session or we move onto the next months winner.

Details of shut down

as you all know, in march we had to hand in our 3 notice to the landlord to close down the skatepark as the funds are completly out, and infact, we have been losing money and incuring more and more dept each month as there is simply not enough people using the place on a regular bassis to pay the rent, let alone all the other bills and rates. unfortunatly, while the events and all nighter have been a great success and raised a fair bit of money, it still isnt enough along with the normal weekly money to cover everything plus pay towards dept which keeps getting more each month.

i have been looking into funding and possibly running the park as a sort of charity thing, non profit type of business (which we have never really made profit) but there is loads of in's and out's and by the time all the paper work has gone thru it could be too late. i have a couple more options to look at before the final shut down date of 1st june so hopefuly i can pull sumat out of the hat and save the ripped for a 4th time.

i will now post updates every week on the progress and make sure you are all informed of any changes that might accure. but take it as, we are defo shutting down and try to use it as much as possible and spread the word, try to bring new people down, try to get ya mates into it. anything anyone can do to help will really be appreciated as there is not much time left.

All Nighter footage

a massive thanks to everyone that turned out and showed support at the all nighter we had on saturday. it was the fullest and probaly the best all night event we have thrown, so BIG UP!!

some serious shredding went down from nearly everyone there, especialy from joe howard from the ripped team that got some uterly jaw dropping tricks down on the big wall ride, and manhead with his effortless attack on the death box extension nailing trick after trick like it was the easyist ramp in the world to skate

for anyone that was or wasnt at grim up north and wants to get another event session in before we possibly shut, then get ya sen to our next and maybe last all nighter at the ripped skatepark.
theres no event sponcers at the min but we should be able to muster up a few prizes for the death box and wall ride comps and as we havent done it for ages we will be hosting a death match at midnight (strickly for nutters only)
